28 January 2019 @ 16:00 - 20:00

Big Data

Onguard and Altares Dun & Bradstreet invite you for a dynamic and practical afternoon on to discuss: Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in credit risk management. Evolution or Revolution?”.

Big Data is a hot topic these days; and in a changing world, the impact it has on data & analytics has brought focus on the Order to Cash process. However, there are still many questions on the subject: What can you do with Big Data? When and where can you use it? When is it applicable, or not?  We have partnered with Altares D&B to provide an informative session to answer these questions!

Join us in Belgium, for the opportunity to receive insight from a top specialist in the field of Big Data.

Joris Peeters, Chief Data Scientist and Strategic Consultant at D&B, will discuss Big Data and how it can help improve efficiency within the order to cash chain, the distributed database model and the future developments of data science.

During the presentation, we will discuss how big data and analytics can be used within credit risk management, and following a brief explanation on the concepts of big data and analytics, the focus will be on showing you how this can effectively be used to help you face challenges presented by organisations. We will also discuss concepts of predictive modelling, followed by real-life examples of where and how these techniques can be used to effectively drive business forward. Lastly, we will present a case study on how the data from the Onguard system, as well as other internal and external data, is leveraged to drive a suite of predictive modelling indicators allowing for a pro-active collection strategy and advanced credit limit management.

About Big Data

Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data – both structured and unstructured – that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis. But it’s not the amount of data that’s important. It’s what organizations do with the data that matters. Big data can be analyzed for insights that lead to better decisions and strategic business moves.

About Joris Peeters, Chief Data Scientist and Strategic Consultant at D&B

Joris has been working for over 21 years in the credit risk assessment area. After having studied Applied Economic Sciences with a specialisation in econometrics and artificial intelligence for data analysis, he started with D&B in 1997, focusing on credit scoring and automated decisions in the Benelux. In 200, he became head of D&B’s Global Scoring Group for Europe, a position he held for 4.5 years. In this role, he focussed on improving the development of D&B’s generic scores and ratings, as well as supporting D&B’s global customers in using scoring within automated systems.

Subsequently, he spent 2 years at Ingram Micro where he was responsible for redesigning the credit function in Europe, for both credit risk management and collections management. From 2006 to 2008, he set-up a credit scoring department for Bisnode’s Credit&Risk Division. Also here, an important focus point was to embed innovation in the analytical processes for different types of scoring.  In this role, he also represented the business information industry at the ISO Ratings Standardization initiative.

Before returning to D&B in late 2009, he served as head of Basel II & Credit Analytics at AXA Bank Europe.  At D&B, his prime orientation was the design of automated risk management solutions for D&B’s Dutch-based customers. As such, he has developed a wide range of solutions for assessing credit risk on SME’s and corporates, both for the Dutch market as well as globally applicable solutions. More recently, the focus of his activities within Altares-D&B, is in the development of several big data approaches towards credit risk management and applying machine learning and artificial intelligence for credit risk and collections management.
