History

Twenty years ago, OnGuard was started from a management buy-out. Founder David W. Taylor bought an almost bankrupt softwarehouse for just one symbolic guilder and named it OnTarget. David found a great office in Castle ‘De Nederhorst’ (The Netherlands) and started with a small team to develop and sell software for local government and vehicle insurance companies.
Dave started to development the idea of credit management software after experiencing a bad payment issue with a customer. OnTarget had completed a major project but the customer wasn’t paying the bills. Dave took a lot of personal interest in this customer, cash flow being his number one priority, and called the director many times, but even promised payments still failed to appear. In the end, Dave got the news that the customer was bankrupt and OnTarget would not receive any money. Damaged but determined to persevere, Dave searched for a credit management software and found out that it didn’t exist so started to program his own. The market reaction was very positive and soon the first clients purchased the credit management software, then called OnGuard Enterprise. Sales grew quickly and soon OnTarget had customers throughout Europe.

In 2004 OnTarget changed its name to OnGuard and has since grown to become a market leader in Credit Management software. Today OnGuard is a global company with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand. OnGuard’s ambition is to become a global leader for Credit Management software.
